  • Light Justice

Edward Bartholomew is the co-founder and curator of Light Justice. Light Justice is the practice of planning, designing, implementing, and investing in lighting for historically neglected communities through a process of stakeholder respect and engagement.

    LightJustice.org is:

    • A forum for lighting professionals to share information and ideas about lighting justice issues, opportunities, and actions.

    • A repository for lighting justice resources accessible to everyone, whether lighting professionals or community members.

    • A hub to connect efforts across organizations in the pursuit of greater justice in how communities are impacted by light.

  • Sustainable Light(ing)

Sustainable light requires the integration of effective daylighting strategies with quality electric lighting to create a sustainable visual experience. Quality lighting that is energy efficient is sustainable. BL supports our clients sustainability goals through optimized visual design, and lighting controls, as well as specification of low embodied carbon products. BL is committed to creating lighting designs that have the least impact on the environment, while supporting a quality visual experience for the occupant.

  • Health & Wellbeing

Bartholomew Lighting strives to design lighting that balances the visual and biological needs of the occupant. One strategy is to design lighting and controls that support circadian synchronization through the effective use of daylighting and dynamically controlled light spectrum. Light fixtures can be augmented to support noise reduction as well as provide germicidal UVC to deactivate and kill pathogens in the air and on surfaces. These healthy light solutions must be carefully integrated with mechanical HVAC systems that supports the revitalization of occupant health and well being.
